They call it "the power of one."
Whether you're a movie star like Paul Newman or a poor, young man from Africa, you can make a huge difference in the lives of others.
Our new documentary -- “Give It All Away: Newman’s Own Recipe for Success,” traces that inspiring philosophy through the efforts of Newman's Own Foundation, which gives away all profits from its food products to charities around the world.
Produced with Connecticut Public Television, the half-hour documentary features the evolution of several nonprofit organizations that have benefited from the generosity of Newman’s Own Foundation, proving that Newman’s legacy lives on today. The stories include those of:
• Two young people who started Shining Hope for Communities to ease the grinding poverty in a massive African slum
• A wounded young soldier whose life has been transformed by a guide dog provided by Fidelco
• A famous chef who has channeled his passion for food into Wholesome Wave, a concern that helps make local, healthy food accessible to the poor
• Serious Fun, an organization of camps for children with serious illnesses
The program premieres on CPTV on Tuesday, December 17 at 8 p.m., with repeats on Friday, December 20 at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 22 at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 25 at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 29 at 11 p.m.
